Frank and the Trucks is the eleventh episode of the first season.

Plot[]

Frank is a new diesel engine on the Island of Sodor. He doesn't have a designated job yet, so in the meantime he has to pull troublesome trucks. While taking his trains, he has access to the beautiful sights on the Island.

One day, Frank is sitting at the Docks when he hears a foreign whistle. He soon realizes that it's Duke, but there's trouble! Duke is being pushed by the trucks and goes off a siding into a shallow part of the ocean. Frank finds the situation funny and teases Duke that he was overpowered by two trucks and a brakevan. Duke protests that he's an old engine and has weak brakes, but Frank continues his sarcastic taunting. He dismisses Duke's plea for help and smugly remarks that he has a train to pull. Duke is furious and hopes that karma catches up with Frank for not being a good Samaritan.

That afternoon, Frank is to pull a special train. The trucks find out what Frank had done to Duke and are cross. S.C. Ruffey decides to make an exception and help out an engine, since Duke is so nice. S.C. Ruffey orders the trucks to hold Frank back while going up Gordon's Hill and then push him down, causing him to crash.

Frank tries to get up Gordon's Hill, but he struggles with the trucks holding him back. When he finally makes it to the top, he races down the other side. He yells at the trucks for bumping him, but he is incapable of stopping. He thunders past Tidmouth Sheds and Henry warns Frank about Percy's milk train that is sitting in The Yard. Frank is going to fast to hear and continues on, barely missing Spencer and the Duke and Duchess' coach. Frank sees Percy's milk train up ahead, but it is too late. He crashes into the train. Percy is uprooted by Frank and all the diesel can see is blackness. Percy is cross with Frank for ruining the milk tankers and his trucks.

While waiting for the Breakdown Train, Frank explains his encounter with Duke to Percy. This is a big mistake as Percy tells the other engines and soon the entire Island knows how rude Frank is. Frank now knows that that's it's not wise to play tricks or be mean to the other engines.
